Users across the globe on Facebook and Instagram are experiencing sudden logouts and difficulty logging back in due to reported password errors.

The disruption began less than an hour ago and is impacting users worldwide, including those in the USA, Europe, and Asia. Downdetector, a platform monitoring online service outages, has received a substantial influx of reports, indicating the widespread nature of this issue.

The incident has resulted in automatic logouts from Meta platforms and rendered Instagram non-functional, displaying error messages such as “Couldn’t refresh feed.” Facebook users encountering the issue are met with a “Session Expired. Please log in again” prompt, only to face further frustration as attempts to log in are met with erroneous password alerts from Meta.

Concerns about potential security breaches have arisen among users, exacerbated by the inability to resolve the issue through password resets.

Furthermore, attempts to access Instagram are met with an error message reading, “We couldn’t connect to Instagram. Make sure you’re connected to the internet and try again.”

Meta has been contacted by BleepingComputer and others, but no response has been given.

This story will be updated as more comes to surface.
